2015 saw the centenaries of 22 Pudsey men who died in Service during the First World War. As the year comes to a close we take a moment to reflect on their sacrifice and remember their lives.
Today is the 100th Centenary of the death of Private Frank Hirst of the 2nd Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment. Frank is buried in Pudsey Cemetery and has been visited by Pudsey & Farsley Royal British Legion Branch President Danny Dance and Meg, to honour his memory. Also pictured is Frank’s Commonwealth War Graves Commission headstone with one of the Tower of London Poppies. Born in 1890 in Liversedge, Frank lived at his family home at 122 Lowtown, Pudsey.
